District Reports

District IV

Greetings from District IV.  I trust everyone has had a nice summer and is by this time working your way back to the routine of school.

I have lost email addresses for most of everyone due to our school system going to a new email system and server.  I will be trying to recompile an email address list as soon as I figure out how to send an email.  You might notice some frustration here.  The good news is that I do have the dates for all district events up on the district website.  As before this is www.districtiv.org or you can simply go to www.lmeamusic.org and click on District IV. Dates and deadlines for District events are in this magazine and on the website.

It would be very good if you would send me an email at Richard.bresowar@apbs.org as soon as you can.  This is my new email address.  If you send me an email, I will put you on the new list.  Ascension parish people I have you on my list already.

I would like to welcome all the new teachers in our area to District IV.I know that we have many new people and I will not name them because I will forget someone.  I hope that all the new teachers will join us and be an active part of LMEA.  If you have problems or questions, please call me or someone in your area that knows.  If you are experienced, please try to help new teachers in your area to be aware of what they are supposed to do. If in doubt, please call me at 225-405-7234. New teachers, especially please check the website and send me an email to get on the email notification list.

I want to thank and congratulate Joseph Nassar for being elected president of the District IV Band Director’s Association.  This is an office that I have held for the last several years and it is a blessing to hand those duties off to a very capable person.  This association administers our District IV Honor Bands. Also new to that board is Eddie Hirst as Secretary.  Patti Roussel continues as Treasurer and David Holland is the Vice-President.

I want to encourage all of us to be aware of what is going on in our profession, attend conferences, and be enthusiastic about our great profession.  Especially, please consider attending our LMEA convention in November.  This event has become more interesting lately and if you have not been in a while, you should try it again.
