District Reports

District III

     For the first time in several years, LMEA State Instrumental Festival will be held on the campus of UL, Lafayette.  The Ducrest-Gilfry Auditorium at Angelle Hall has undergone a name change as well as the addition of a state of the art performance shell and we are certain that participants will be pleased with the quality of sound in the auditorium.   As District III Director, it is my pleasure to welcome participants and to make myself available for any questions you may have concerning our area.

     This year’s venue for the SLBDA District Marching Festival will be Cajun Field, also on the UL, Lafayette campus.  Thanks to Dr. Brian Taylor and Dr. Gerald Waguespack for their help in securing this location. 

     This information as well as all other information related to any district or LMEA events will be posted on your respective District III websites: vocal district3choir.org and instrumental slbda.org.

This will include dates, locations, schedules and all information needed for all district events.  Please refer to the LMEA website for state events.  This issue of the Louisiana Musician will include entry forms and the calendar of events for this school year.  Please mark your calendars and please adhere to all deadlines.  If you notice that a deadline is approaching and you have not had access to information regarding that particular event, it is your responsibility to contact me or the chairperson of the event to request the information in time to make the established deadline.
