Band – High School and Junior High (Grades 6-12) – Jena High School – LaSalle
Description of Position:  Jena High School is seeking a Band Director to lead and grow our 6th–12th grade band program
beginning in Summer 2025. This is a 10-month, full-time position (salary paid year-round), working with both Jena Junior High and Jena High School students.

Position Overview:
• Teach Beginning Band and Advanced Band at Jena Junior High (grades 6–8) each morning (3 classes).
• Teach Band at Jena High School (grades 9–12) each afternoon (2 classes).
• Oversee and lead the Marching Band, Winter/Spring Concerts
• Participation in competitions and festivals is expected, with flexibility for the director to determine to what extent.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Music Education preferred.
• Valid Louisiana teaching certification (or ability to obtain certification).
• Prior teaching or directing experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong leadership, organization, communication, and fundraising skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, parents, and the booster club.
• Vision for building and improving the overall band program.

Additional Information:
• Interest in developing a choir program could be a plus but not required.
• Active partnership with a supportive and established booster club is encouraged.
• The director will have input on competition schedules and programming decisions.  Start Date:  Summer 2025

The program consists of Beginning/ Intermediate Choir, Advanced Choir, and Select A Capella Choir. Regular participant at the LMEA District IV Assessment.
