The Value of Music Education in My Life

Supporting Music EducationWe believe music is an essential subject, with lifelong benefits whether a person’s vocation is music-related or not. As part of its “Supporting Music Education” project, LMEA is compiling statements on how music education has positively impacted and enriched the lives of current and former students.

We welcome students under 18 to contribute to this project, however, a parent or guardian provide their consent by completing the “Student Release of Information” form. Please download and sign it, then upload it through the portal in the form below.

The Value of Music - a personal perspective

Please share a few sentences or tell us your story about how music can help a person become "their best self."

    Submit a Video. (Optional)

    Video can personalize a story if the story-teller is comfortable in that medium. In addition, photos can be inserted into a video to further enhance it. If you would like to submit a video of you telling your story, LMEA will be glad to assist you as needed. As there are a lot of options for filming, we will contact you either by phone or by email to give you additional information, to answer any questions you might have, and to provide a link through which to submit a video.

    We appreciate your support as we work to advocate for high-quality music education throughout Louisiana.
    LMEA is a nonprofit organization and wants to share your story, including any photos or video you might submit, solely as part of its "Supporting Music Education" project. LMEA will not receive compensation for any part of your narrative. Likewise, we are unable to offer any royalty, fee, or other compensation to either you or your child for the usage of your narrative.
    LMEA reserves the right to edit a narrative for length and spelling/grammar to comply with publication requirements. LMEA also reserves the right to edit or limit photos to satisfy the size, formatting requirements, or space constraints of a specific publication.
    By clicking submit, you are indicating that you support LMEA's use of your story and photos (if applicable) in LMEA's "Supporting Music Education" project as described in this form.
    Any images or video submitted may be edited by LMEA to satisfy size, length, or formatting requirements of a specific publication. Narratives may be edited for length and spelling/grammar.

    If you submit a video-story that includes your child and a situation should arise requiring a video to be removed, please contact us immediately at lmea@lmeamusic.org with the nature of the situation. Although a video in our possession can be edited or removed, we cannot control a situation where it was previously shared.
