LMEA Distinguished Legacy Award

Purpose:

  • To recognize an individual for lifetime achievement of distinguished service to the profession, supporting the mission and goals of the Louisiana Music Educators Association.

Criteria:

  • Nominees must have a minimum of 30 years of distinguished service to the profession.
  • Nominees must be a member of LMEA/NAfME.
  • Nominees for this award must have evidence of supporting the mission and goals of the Louisiana Music Educators Association, which include to elevate the character, to advance the professional interest, and otherwise to promote the cause of music education in the State of Louisiana.

Method of Nomination:

  • Any LMEA member may nominate a candidate based on the criteria above.
  • No more than 2 people may receive this award per year. A plaque and lapel pin will be awarded and a Banner will be perpetually displayed at conference recognizing those selected for this prestigious award.
  • To nominate for this award all of the following documents must be signed and submitted online together.

How to Nominate:

  • Submit the nomination form and supporting documentation using the online form. (Form will be available beginning April 1.)
  • Supporting documentation includes:
    1. A letter of nomination from an LMEA member, including a description of the nominee’s qualifications for the award (based on the list above). Sign, scan, and upload it when submitting the nomination form.
    2. Two additional letters of support from persons familiar with the nominee’s work. These letters may be from an administrator, colleague, parent, or community member. Sign, scan, and upload it when submitting the nomination form.

Deadline: All nominations and supporting documentation must be received by September 1st.

The recipient(s) will be selected by the LMEA Awards Committee.
