Description of Position: This is an orchestra position, with piano, for 6-8 grade students at McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School. Elementary Music – Holy Cross School, Orleans Parish

JOB DESCRIPTION: Holy Cross School is seeking a part-time music teacher for our Lower School.  The teacher will be responsible for teaching age-appropriate musical concepts and skills to students from Pre-K through fourth grade. They will create lesson plans, teach music theory and techniques, and plan and direct performances.  This is a part-time, non-benefit eligible position. This is a 10-month position, August through May, 20 hours per week, 11:00am to 3:00pm daily. The school year shall consist of 190 days, included in these days are regular school days, in-service days, and opening-closing days.  This position receives direction from the Fine Arts Department Chair, Director of Curriculum & Instruction, and Principal.
Qualifications
A faculty member must hold at least a bachelor’s degree from a college or university approved by a regional accrediting organization. A faculty member must hold or be working toward a valid teaching certificate for the State of Louisiana. 
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
• Develop and teach music curriculum according to school standards
• Instruct students in music theory, music history, and techniques for singing and/or playing instruments
• Plan and direct student performances
• Assess and evaluate student progress, providing feedback to students, parents, and administrators
• Attend professional development, training, parent conferences, and faculty meetings as necessary.
• Use discipline models to maintain a positive, encouraging learning environment.
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, faculty, and administrators.
• Work with teachers to monitor and implement class schedules.
• Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.
• Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.
• Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating, etc.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
• All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and/or targets established as part of the annual performance planning process or as the result of organizational planning.

Band – Vandebilt Catholic High School, Terrebonne Parish
JOB DESCRIPTION:
 
Classroom:
– Provide a differentiated and rigorous music education to each student in the program using educational standards of excellence in music
– Implement best practices in the areas of music education and religious values as learned through continuous education
– Collaborate with colleagues for the ultimate success of the students in all aspects of their learning
Performances and Ensembles:
– Responsible for the marching band (The Regiment) and participation in local marching band competitions and events
– Responsible for band performances at all football games and select sporting events
– Organize Christmas and spring concerts, performances at designated school events
– Oversee concert band and participation in local performance assessments
– Provide students opportunities to excel by supporting participation in advanced musical ensembles such as Parish, District, and All-State Honor Bands
Program Management:
– Responsible for management and staffing of all auxiliary programs of the band including but not limited to Vantastics Dance Team, Color Guard, and Indoor Percussion
– Manage all financial accounts for the band and all auxiliary programs
– Manage all travel arrangements for the band and all auxiliary programs
– Develop and maintain an inventory of all program assets including instruments, music, uniforms, props, equipment, etc.
– Collaborate with the Band Boosters (Parent Group) to meet the needs of the program
– Ensure that program activities are publicized and reflect a positive image of the program and school

The Vandebilt band director will also support, collaborate, and work with the elementary feeder schools to best design a program that will encourage instrumental music education in the lower grades.
Q U A L I F I C AT I O N S
•  Strong belief in Catholic education and supports the mission of the school
•  Knowledge of (or passion for learning) the Charism of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart
•  Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
•  High school band director experience preferred
•  Well-organized, proficient in administrative duties
